WHAT ARE VENEERS?
Veneers are customized from a thin “shell” of white material (porcelain or resin) and are permanently bonded over the tooth surface. (Like a false fingernail).

HOW CAN THEY HELP MY SMILE?
While they’re not suitable for every patient, veneers can be your cosmetic alternative for any of the following dental conditions of the front teeth:

• spaces between teeth
• broken or chipped teeth
• unattractive, stained or washed out fillings
• permanently stained or discolored teeth
• uneven or crooked teeth

HOW ARE VENEERS APPLIED?
There are three steps to this procedure;
1. An impression is taken to make an exact reproduction of your mouth and teeth so that the veneers can be custom made by the laboratory minor tooth preparations may be required to create room for the veneer.
2. To help adhere the veneer to the tooth surface, the tooth is etched with a mild acid solution to slightly roughen the surface.
3. Veneers are applied individually and permanently bonded to the tooth surface after you have approved shape and color!

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF CHOOSING VENEERS?
At one time the only choices you had for these conditions were crowns or resin fillings, now you have the advantage of a third alternative.
• anesthesia is often not required
• only a small fraction of the tooth structure (if any) is removed
• veneers are less expensive and time consuming than full crowns
• a healthy “natural” smile is attained with rarely or no discomfort

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
Veneers can last for years, depending on how well they’re maintained by the patient. Part of maintenance includes regular oral hygiene at home as well as routine cleanings and dental exams to ensure your new veneers remain looking as good as new!
You should avoid staining foods such as blueberries, cherries, coffee, red wine.
Another important thing to remember is to refrain from any oral habits such as nail biting, grinding your teeth, opening bobby pins and chewing on hard objects as they can damage your veneers.

WHAT IS TOOTH WHITENING?
NITE WHITE ? is a bleaching process that lightens discoloration’s of enamel and dentin (layers of the tooth). This system uses a clear, peppermint cream, piña colada or wild cherry flavored gel retained in a custom-fitted tray that is worn over your teeth either while you’re sleeping or during the day.

WHAT CAUSES TOOTH DISCOLORATION?
There are many causes, the most common include aging, consumption of staining substances (coffee, tea, colas, tobacco), trauma, tetracycline (antibiotic) staining, excessive fluoride, nerve degeneration and old restorations.

CAN I BENEFIT FROM NITE WHITE® ?
Almost anyone can! How ever there are some cases where the treatment might not be effective. Consult with your dentist to determine through an examination and diagnosis whether you are a viable candidate.
The tooth lightening system is ideal for patients who have healthy, unrestored teeth and would like to have a whiter, brighter smile.
It is not recommended for pregnant or lactating women or people with serious health conditions as studies have not been done in these areas to date, so it is best not to risk.

IS THE PROCESS SAFE?
YES! Research indicates that whitening teeth with carbamide peroxide under the supervision of a dentist is safe for teeth and gums.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?
1. During your examination visit, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth. These will allow the dentist to make custom fit gel holding trays.
2. During your second visit you will be fitted with your trays and be given your NITE WHITE® gel and specific instructions.
3. Follow the take home instructions and those of your dentist, continuing to maintain proper oral hygiene through brushing and flossing.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Results are usually noticeable after the first application and maximum results occur when the process is continued for 10-14 days or nights.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?
The teeth will always be lighter than they originally were. It is difficult to evaluate the long term stability however there has been very little color relapse noted after the first two years. This of course differs between patients depending on lifestyle habits/diet (red wine, coffee, tea, smoke), the more habits you have the quicker the relapse. Some patients may need periodic re-whitening for one to two applications every six to twelve months.
